STRONG LEADERS MAKE A STRONG NATION...
...but in todays world we struggle to find these leaders. It is vital that we play a role in developing our youth to become strong leaders, as they are the future of our nation.

The International Leadership Academy (ILA) is a free programme designed for schools in developing young leaders in their community.

PROGRAMME

4 YEARS
FROM GRADE 8

Learners begin the 4 year programme in Grade 8, first attending a week of camp and then other planned events throughout the year.
TRAINING

1 EDUCATOR
+ 4 LEARNERS

Participating schools send 1 educator and 4 learners. Educators also receive leadership training and are vital support to the learner throughout the year.
LEADERSHIP

MY LEADERSHIP
RESPONSIBILITY

The curriculum is designed to open the learner’s view of the world and the leadership role they can play.
PROJECT

IMPACT MY
COMMUNITY

Learners are challenged to complete a community project in the 6 months following their week of camp - prizes will be awarded for the top projects.

For the ILA to have utmost effect within the community, the learners and educators selected to participate should be those who have natural leadership qualities. The learners chosen do not necessarily need to be the learners who make the best grades or are the best behaved. As long as they are between the ages of 12-14 and in grade 8. The educator should be someone that has a passion for the learners or who is already involved in leadership development in the school or community.

The International Leadership Academy curriculum focuses on four areas...

MY VIEW
Challenging how learners see the world around them.

MY LEADERSHIP
Developing leadership skills and equiping learners to lead others appropriately.

MY CHOICE
Helping individual learners reflect on the choices and actions they make daily, and how they impact them and the people around them.

MY COMMUNITY
Teaching learners what it means to practically serve their community and equipping them to assess and execute need appropriate service projects.

As the school is the center of a community, it is important that we work together to give the youth role models they can follow. Indawo Yethemba desires to assist schools with the task of positively influencing the learner’s leadership skills so they will become a strong foundation for your community and the next generation.

How can you help?

BECOME A VOLUNTEER OR MAKE A CONTRIBUTION

We aim to empower and equip the surrounding rural communities by helping people --- one at a time --- to identify their God-given gifts, abilities and passions.
Thus enabling them to impact their own families and communities.
